Power Point

PowerPoint is a great tool to add
visual learning to a message and
the more senses that are involved in
learning the better. But the overuse
of PowerPoint can be detrimental to a
message.
A personal peeve of mine is when
PowerPoint is used to display Bible
verses. While it is simpler and a
timesaver to have everyone on the
same page for the Biblical text, posting
the Bible verses denies every teen the
opportunity to open their Bibles and
find the text themselves. It denies
them the opportunity to learn the
books of the Bible and how to look
things up in the Bible. It denies them
the opportunity to connect with the
Bible passage as they read it out of
something personal to them which
is their own Bible. Just maybe this
time of opening up their own personal
Bibles will encourage them to do the
same at home. That is a maybe that I
invest in every time I teach.
