birthday
2011
Harvard celebrated its 375th birthday
with President Drew Faust, renowned
cellist Yo-Yo Ma, the Holden Choirs, the
Radcliffe Orchestra, and a whole host
of other performers and student groups.
Undergraduate and graduate students
held signs and waved props that represented their houses and schools while
parading through the Yard and Tercentenary Theater. Organizers served a
15x18 foot H-shaped red velvet cake to
the nearly 5,000 people who attended
the celebration. Despite the pouring
rain and shin-deep mud, students, faculty, and alumni alike flocked to the Yard
to enjoy the event and to wish Harvard
a very happy 375th.
