STRONG REGIONAL NRM LEADERSHIP

NQ Dry Tropics continued to show strong leadership in the Natural Resource Management sector by bringing together a variety of partners to collaborate and develop solutions .
Traditional Owner Management Group
We facilitate the NQ Dry Tropics Traditional Owner Management Group ( TOMG )— a forum for representatives from 14 Burdekin Dry Tropics regional Traditional Owner groups to collaborate , and provide direction and advice about aspirations for land and sea Country management and engagement .

Formed in 2005 , the group of leaders has been the cornerstone of NQ Dry Tropics ’ engagement with Traditional Owners . It meets regularly to share ideas , knowledge and resources , discuss projects with NQ Dry Tropics staff and provide guidance on cultural matters .
A TOMG meeting held during National Reconciliation Week 2022 provided an opportunity for Traditional Owner representatives and NQ Dry Tropics staff to discuss how reconciliation could be translated into action .
