OUR NATURAL ASSETS :

PROTECTING COASTAL ECOSYSTEMS AND THREATENED ECOLOGICAL COMMUNITIES

Protecting the region ’ s ecosystems requires collective action . NQ Dry Tropics has been developing a strategic planning process based on the worldleading Conservation Action Planning ( CAP ) framework for identifying and managing priority sites and species .
CAP brings together science , farming , Indigenous , and landcare knowledge to identify and prioritise strategies to manage threats posed by pest plants and animals , vegetation clearing , overgrazing , inappropriate fire regimes , changes to hydrology , and climate change . It encourages local advocacy groups , governments and researchers to pool resources and knowledge in pursuit of a common goal .
While the CAP process is ongoing , we have continued delivering on the ground — tackling invasive species , protecting biodiversity , and improving the health of wetlands and creeks .
