Year 10 Materials Design Technology (Metals)
Course Outline
This course provides students with an opportunity to engage in a diverse range of creative
and practical experiences using a variety of tools and equipment widely available in
industrial and domestic settings. Core modules develop knowledge and skills in the use of
metal materials, tools and techniques related to general metalwork.

The aim of Materials, Design & Technology Metals is to develop students’ knowledge,
understanding, skills and values related to a range of technologies through safe
interaction with materials, tools and processes. This is achieved through careful planning,
development and construction of quality practical projects. The course also aims to
develop students’ understanding of the relationship between technologies, individual and
societal needs and the environment.
