Newport reclamation was dealL with al a meeting on 5 May 1960 . The Sec . retary reporred that die Lands Board had approved the club ' s application for the special purchase and occupancy of the area required for additional sllpways .
A sub-committee consisting of J . A Broce and die Secretary was appointed on 18 June 1960 to interview die Maritime Services Board and 10 seek their advice regarding the positioning and type of marina suilabJe for construction in Ute waters surrounding the club property at Newpon .
There was a Jong and detailed discussion hel4 on 7 July 1960 relating Lo the combined administration of the Sydney and the Piuwater Divisions . it was also reported al thal meeting that Caprnin Johnson of the Maritime Services Board had prepared suggestions regarding tbe proposed marinas for Green Point . These proposals were approved in principle .
Development of the premises was uppermost on the agenda during this period . but yach1 racing wem on as ever in thePiuwater . By June 1961 yacht racing at die Piuwater had been divided inlo six divisions comprising Nos I . 2 , 3 & 4 Divisions for handicap divisions . then U1e inremational Dragon class and another division including Stars . Flying Dutchmen and Flying Fifteens wbich raced over the same course as the Dragons and 5.5 metre yachts .
Much discussion centred on lhe proposed hardstand area and a breakwater . The Smrboat fleet had
applied for h ! lrd ~ tand faciUties ; buL aparL fro1n one or two who had fow1d space on thesourhem side of the boatshed tb1s was not practicable . On I June 1961 it was decided to advise ! he Star Association Iha ! U1e Commiucc proposed to carry out no construction work at Green Poior until the reclamation and marinas were completed and a master plan drawn for the whole of the Green Point area .
A new club journal-the RPAYC Gazerteappeared in 1961 and it was decided 10 sell 25 % of the space therein Lo defray printing costs .
A tender from Shaw Bros was accepted on 8 February 1962 to cottStruct the breakwater from the reclaimed land 10 the navigation pile off Green
Point . On 13 April l 962 ii was resolved that
application be made to the Lands Department for the reclamation and the purchase of the land below high water mark from ! be end of and including rhe slipways to the end of lhe jetty . l11ence in a straight Line 10 the end of tbe Smidmore ' s jeuy . thence to the retaining wall as close to Smidmore ' s jetty as possible .
On 5 July I % 2 letters were collSidered from lhe Star Association and the ~. 5 Metre Class Association regarding the storage of yachts on the proposed b . ardstand area . The 5.5 Meire Class Association had offered to provide their own cradles at no cosl to the club . II was decided that the scheme put forward by the Star Association was not practicable and 111e matierof providing storage for the Srnrs was referred back to the Committee . In regard to the storage of 5.5 metre yachts . however , it was decided ' that the hard standing areas bepmvided to all suitable yachts but that 5.5 metre yacht owners will provide their own cradles ·.
AL this time yachts were being kepi on moorings ooly . Some of these moorings would have 10 be moved 10 make way for the new marina . Otl1er than open rype centreboards similar 10 Jubilees , Flying Dutchmen , Finns , Flying Fifteens , Vaucluse Seniors

However . marinas were soon 10 be available and weekly charges were set as foUows : Yachts under 20 ft , £ 1 I Os Od ; 20-30 ft . £ 2 ; 30 ft-40 ft . £ 2 . I Os Oct ; over 40 fl . £ 3 .
Harold Vaughan had worked hard on the planning and development of the Pi Lt water pro jeer and in July 1962 the Secretary wrote 10 him conveying the Commiuee ' s appreciation of the valuable services rendered by him in the matrer of the marinas .
