The Mind Of Basquiat
9
For great production coupled with great lyrics look no further than Rise, produced by the one and only 9th Wonder (also responsible for the smash hit Long Time). On Rise, Lecrae offers his reasoning for the current state of Hip Hop,
"A whole generation is raised by gangsters/probably never knew pops,he had Tupac,"
For all of you RUDE BOIS, PEEP Black Rose produced by Tyshane. Beware! I hope your speakers can hang with the BASS on this one. Featured artists on this project include Christon Gray, Propaganda, Braille, Odd Thomas, Swoope, Suzy Rock and a few others. All in all, I must say that LeCrae has given the public a well-rounded project.
.Beanie Sigel - BroadStreet Empire Vol. 1: Lost Files, hosted by DJ Damage
There was an enormous degree of excitement when I first heard that Beanie Sigel would be putting out a project. With his distinct flow, Beanie has always displayed his superior skills, and I definitely was anticipating nothing less for this offering. Starting off strong with The Ignorant(produced by Don Cheegro) Beans shows that he indeed still has it and is still up to his old tricks. Never one to be pushed over or challenged too often in the industry (big shouts to Jada for stepping up to the plate and going heat for heat with Sigel)
"You can never be the man I am, you been a sucka since sucking on your mammy’s mammary gland/ya Similac child, your breath still smell like Infamile you imbecile/"
as well as other hard-hitting lines such as:
"I'm full-grown you teeny...somethin like a preemie. I invented you mimic, I fear God you timid."
Track 2 titled Show Must Go On"(with samples from Queen's "The Show Must Go On" and production by Don Cheegro and Dirty Harry), Beans shares perspective on the death of a dynasty which was Roc-A-Fella. Sharing insight such as,
"6 straight years we held that top position then here come the glitch in the system, Jay missing/
He on vacation somewhere catching a tan and Dame giving out executive positions/
but I closed my mouth and I ain't speak/ played possum but every closed eye ain't sleep/ I just watched em
The tape ends in grand fashion, with one of my personal favorites titled, Children Are the Future; featuring Sean Anthony, the lyricism shown is top notch; from lines like
"too many brothers missing, trapped in the system/
Kids asking where daddy at and mommy can't answer that truthfully/
so she says daddy in school he'll be home soon/"
