Two days of debates, discussions, workshops, round tables and panels to discuss and analyze the current status of sport in Europe. On 4th and 5th October, the Appia Park Hotel in Rome (via Appia Nuova, 934, 00178 Rome - RM) will host the members of ENGSO, stakeholders and players from the sports field, for the second edition of the European Sport Platform. The event will be organized by the European Non-Governmental Sports Organization in collaboration with OPES. The first edition of the event took place in Budapest on 16 th and 17 th November 2018 and was focused on the E-sports phenomenon and on the impact that it can have in the sport field. The second edition of the event, in Rome, will address the following topics: volunteers, the everyday heroes of sport, diversity in sport governance, and sport for mental wellbeing. Prominent speakers will be on the podium to share their experiences with the audience and to lead the discussion on the three main topics of the second edition of the European Sport Platform. Sara Massini, head of the International Relations Department of OPES and newly elected member of the ENGSO Executive Committee, for example, will address the topic of gender equality in sports governance. Sara Massini has always been committed to the fight against inequalities and for the demolition of all those walls raised by gender stereotypes, also existing in the sport field. Her intervention will be a stimulus and an incentive to reflect on the importance of diversity in governance, also sharing a former Erasmus+ Sport project and its national follow-up initiative. The list of speakers also includes the name of Valerio Di Tommaso, met by OPES during the ceremony to assign the “Scirea Prize” to the Italian national soccer team (Rome, Cinecittà World theme park, 18 and 19 May 2019), composed of psychiatric patients. The team in 2018 gained the title of World Champion. Considering the format of the event, the topics addressed, the presence of international representatives of the sport field and the list of speakers, there is no doubt that the two-days event (4th and 5th October) will be highly interesting and fruitful. The Platform will be a unique opportunity for all those people working or volunteering within sport organizations and associations everyday.
