Modelling – Floors, Columns and Beams
multiple beams at once,
you will need to have
gridlines placed in the
project, select Multiple,
and select gridlines
Note: when Revit places
beams along a gridline, it
considers the following:
1. Any possible structural
support such as walls,
columns, or other beams.
2. If wall end is on the grid,
it will be used as a support.
3. Any existing beams will
cut any new beams placed.
Tip: once a beam has been
placed, it will have a start
and end level offset, which
can be individually
adjusted to slope the
beam. (See right)
In addition to placing
beams on levels,
Reference Planes can be
used as hosts (if a sloped
reference plane once used
to attach the tops of
columns, a beam could
easily be hosted on this to
create a simple portal
frame.
If beams are placed at
different heights, one can
simply join them by
drawing a beam between
the two. Using 3-D
snapping and selecting the
endpoints of the two
beams will create a beam
with different start and end
elevations
