Family Creation 2 ( parametric Arrays )
Controlling the width of the cupboard doors based on the width of the kitchen cupboard .
We will control the width of the kitchen cupboard doors by inserting a formula . This formula will use the count in the array and we will also add in the space between the cupboard doors into this formula .
Click in the ‘ Family Types ’ button , click inside the formula field in the ‘ Door Width ’ row . Insert the following .
Width / 4-20mm
- Width = width that drives the overall width of the kitchen cupboard
- Division by 4 = number of elements in the array
- -20mm = space that is between the cupboard doors .
Note : this formula will work fine for the moment . If we change the overall width of the kitchen cupboard or the number of elements in the array it won ’ t works so well anymore and the door sizes will become odd . Therefore we need to make this formula based on the array itself .
In Ref . Level view . Click on an element that is part of the array . The array indicator will highlight . Click on the array indicator . We will turn this into a parameter . Whilst the array indictor is still selected look in the option bar . Click on the drop-down next to ‘ Label ’ and select ‘ Add Parameter ’. This will open the Parameter Properties dialog box .
