Fives At the National Schools’ Championships,
Marcus Cloke-Brown (B, 2017-) won the
U16 singles plate, Dominic Percival (B, 2015-)
and Sebastian Fraser (E, 2015-) won the
U18 doubles.
Tennis Yearlings 1st pair, Christopher Lee
(E, 2018-) and Freddie Van Every (A, 2018-),
have lost only one set all season. The 1st VI
have won all but 2 matches and the 2nd VI
managed to go one better only losing
the one match.
Basketball Nosa Okunbo (E, 2016-19)
started playing for Team Solent Kestrels
in the national U16 Premier League. He
has since transferred to Lawrenceville
Prep in New Jersey and is now attracting
the attention of NCAA and Ivy League
university teams.
Martial Arts Teddy Wilmott-Sitwell
(B, 2014-19) and Hugh Travis (H, 2014-19)
achieved black belts in Aikido. William
Richards (C, 2015-) and Oliver Mackay
(H, 2015-) gained black belts in Karate.
William St John Butler (H, 2014-19)
passed his Sandan (3rd dan black belt),
which is the highest grade ever awarded
to a WinColl pupil.
Cricket Lords had their best season for
10 years winning 13 of their 20 games.
The Yearlings A won 11 of their 12 games.
Wilf La Fontaine Jackson (B, 2018-) has
scored unbeaten centuries against Dauntsey’s,
Eton and KES and therefore averaged 198.
Chess The Winchester Chess team
reached the regional finals of the National
Schools’ tournament.
Hockey Freddie Krone (D, 2015-) Casper
Hall (B, 2018-) and Chris Batten (A, 2018-)
have all represented their countries and the
1st XI lost only once this season.
Fencing Joe Donaghue (A, 2016-19) won
bronze in the Senior Schools Scottish Open
Fencing competition and finished 24th (out
of 259) at an international event in Budapest,
the top U16 GB fencer. Richard Discombe-
Short (E, 2017-19) came 2nd in the Welsh
U18 Men’s Sabre.
Running Four Wykehamists were in the top
10 in the District Cross Country Trials held
at Perins School, Alresford.
Rifle Shooting Top shot went to William
Griffith (E, 2016-), who scored 99% on one
occasion and Jacob Mallabone (C, 2015-)
has the highest average of 95%.

School and House Plays covered as
always an eclectic mix: Arthur Miller’s
Death of a Salesman, William Wycherley’s
The Country Wife, Giles Cooper’s Unman,
Wittering and Zigo, Mel Brook’s The Producers,
and a 45-minute production of Shakespeare’s
Twelfth Night.
Stand out performances include Tomas
Sargeant’s (B, 2014-19) Willy Loman in
Death of Salesman, Arthur Ritchie’s (A, 2016-)
Wittering in Unman, Wittering and Zigo
and Louis Christie’s (G, 2015-) hilarious
Ulla Inga Hansen Benson Yansen Tallen
Hallen Svaden Swanson in The Producers.
