Barbed wire is a rope made out of wire with sharp barbs attached to it. It was used in front of trenches to keep enemies out during ww1, but soldiers from the trenches would get stuck in the barbed wire when told to run out and attack and would sometimes die on it. Originally, it was made for animals to keep them on their side of the fence, but it eventually got used for the great war. People in the trenches would joke that people were trapped ‘on the old barbed wire’ and even made a song. some people call barbed wire the devil’s rope and I don’t think I have to explain why. I mean, it was really bad. (I don’t have much more to say about this)
