HISTORY
The Hello Girls headset was used by girls in World War 1 to transfer calls from soldiers and generals. It was made from metal, and had an earphone, speaker and wire that could plug into a huge switchboard. It was required for the women who worked there to speak french and english. On the back of each chair, the girls had a gas mask and helmet, because they worked close to the fighting and bombing of the war. Out of 7,00 women that applied, only 150 were chosen. They went through simple training, and learned how to operate the telephones from AT+T. Eventually, they left for france, and 223 girls came. The girls got paid about $100 a month.
