My day
everyday
Well here we go again, up the hill two bullet holes in the front then a sudden shout of “hold your fire”. I don't know why I have to be dragged around all day getting shot at. There are 2171 of us driving through the harsh metal flying at us in every direction. We had to carry 19 million soldiers who either died or were scarred for life. At least the soldiers have some sort of cover. The only cover I have is a faded red cross symbol tattooed on the side of me. I know that technically I am saving lives but I would rather be riding around in protection so I wouldn’t get shot at as much. The women that volunteer are always talking about knitting things for their husbands. Many of these women volunteer to be my driver along with working in the factories and buying war bonds. It is always so sweet to hear that people are working so hard to help their country. Well, I better go. I am driving soldiers just from the front line to an ambulance train with 500 more. They will be taken to safety for the time being. Honestly, many are glad they got hurt and could go home so they don’t have to suffer in the harsh trenches any longer. They have been through so much like poisonous gas, and shrapnel shells coming down like harsh and fast rain which is why they wear metal helmets with rims so it doesn’t hit their necks. I wish I had one of those.
