The TT Circuit Assen is a 4.542 km long asphalt legend that can trace its roots right back to almost the origins of motorsport . The most remarkable thing about Assen as a venue is that despite a bewildering number of makeovers , reductions in length and safety modernisations , it is still identifiable as Assen . It is also utterly Dutch , has some distinct positive camber corners and is truly unique in modern racing . Here we present a flying lap of ‘ The Cathedral ’ with one of your own .

Het TT Circuit Assen is een 4,542 km lange asfaltlegende , die teruggaat tot bijna de oorsprong van de motorsport . Het meest opmerkelijke aan Assen als locatie is dat het ondanks een groot aantal aanpassingen , inkortingen en veiligheidsmoderniseringen nog steeds herkenbaar is als Assen . Het is ook volkomen Nederlands , heeft een aantal bochten met verkanting en is werkelijk uniek in de moderne racerij . Hier presenteren we een vliegende ronde over ' De Kathedraal ' met een van jullie .

T12 MEEUWENMEER TO T15 RAMSHOEK The fast right kink , you go in there where you feel alright . It is just a kink and there is some banking there so the bike will ‘ compress ’ anyway , so it just depends on your bike . It is so fast , there is not really an ideal line . Towards the fast left hander , Ramshoek , the track is so wide there , it just depends where you need the bike to be . But it is such a long left fast corner . The speed at the final corner of this whole sector starts off at the first corner . It ’ s so fast …
T12 MEEUWENMEER NAAR T15 RAMSHOEK De snelle rechtse knik , je gaat erin waar je je goed voelt . Het is gewoon een knik en er is wat verkanting daar , zodat de motor toch ' comprimeert ', dus het hangt allemaal af van je motor . Het is zo snel dat er niet echt een ideale lijn is . Naar de snelle linkse bocht , Ramshoek , is de baan zo breed waardoor het er gewoon vanaf hangt waar je de motor wilt hebben . Maar het is zo ' n lange linkse snelle bocht . There are many different aspects to Assen . It is still really flowing in nature . The old , old Assen was only flowing , but now we have some tight corners . T1 and T5 , for example , but still the main thing about it is its flowing nature . The nature of this track is still there and always will be there . You can ask any rider , it is the flow of the circuit that is nice . But now it is safe , and there have always been amazing races - doesn ’ t matter which class , which year what conditions . As long as a bike rolls alright and turns OK-ish , you can get away with a lot at Assen . I think with less horsepower it would make life easier . And there is a lot of slipstreaming , too .
Assen heeft veel verschillende aspecten en het is nog echt vloeiend van aard . Het oude Assen was alleen maar vloeiend , maar nu hebben we ook een aantal krappe bochten . T1 en T5 bijvoorbeeld , maar het belangrijkste is nog steeds het vloeiende karakter . Dat karakter is er nog steeds en zal er altijd zijn . Je kunt het elke rijder vragen , het is de flow van het circuit die het leuk maakt . Maar nu is het veilig en er zijn altijd geweldige races geweest - maakt niet uit welke klasse , welk jaar , welke omstandigheden . Zolang een motor goed rijdt en goed draait , kun je met veel wegkomen op Assen . Ik denk dat met minder pk ' s het leven gemakkelijker zou worden . En er is ook veel slipstreaming .
T10-T11 MANDEVEEN / DUIKERSLOOT The first right into Mandeveen is flat and you can overtake people there . It is all about exiting Mandeveen because it is all about that second one , how you exit Duikerslot for the final fast sector . It is difficult to get close if you mess up that one .
T10-T11 MANDEVEEN / DUIKERSLOOT De eerste rechterbocht naar Mandeveen is vlak en je kunt er goed anderen inhalen . Bij het uitkomen van Mandeveen gaat het om die tweede , hoe je Duikerslot uitkomt voor de laatste snelle sector . Het is moeilijk om dichtbij te komen als je die verknoeit .
