WorldSBK and Italy are inextricably linked , in terms of riders , circuits , manufacturers and fans . They have been since year one , way back in 1988 . In year 35 , we have returned to a situation where we have two Italian WorldSBK rounds in a season once more lifting the feel-good factor higher and higher .
Once upon a time Great Britain was nicknamed ‘ Superbike Island .’ If it ever was such a thing , it was an island built on strong Italian foundations . Over all these past 35 years Italy has really been the bedrock of WorldSBK , in so many aspects of WorldSBK existence .
Fast forward to 2023 and Italy has two WorldSBK venues again . Where we are possibly standing right now - the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli - is first up and in July we will head back to the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari di Imola . We have also seen Italy host WorldSBK races at Enna-Pergusa , Monza , Mugello and Vallelunga .
Il WorldSBK e l ' Italia sono indissolubilmente legati , in termini di piloti , circuiti , costruttori e tifosi . Lo sono stati dal primo anno , dal lontano 1988 . Nel 35 ° anno , siamo tornati ad avere due round italiani del WorldSBK in una stagione , rinsaldando così ancora maggiormente questo legame .
