Niagara Falls Slough Forest / Dr. John Bacher Each spring a symphony brings Music to the woods A chorus of frogs Not properly renowned Most are deaf To the sounds That magically abound When every spring the mating urges bring Amphibians to vernal pools To sing and sing and sing On Oldfield Road the calls once were Stronger than anywhere In all of Niagara the chorus rose, With records strong to share To those who seek to record T hrough choral calls How many frogs Can be found With the ponds north of the road ripped up The calls die out You have to treck south into the woods To hear the calls because of sorry louts Who run the City of Niagara Falls Oh may we hope for their downfall And so keep what is left of The Slough Forest Woods The sacred shrine The Holy Rood 22
