Writing on Trial Final Portfolio | Page 3

Editor’s Note Writing has taught me a lesson, a very simple one: you can always improve. To me writing is the expression of your own thoughts and feelings. No matter what you write down even if it is the most useless combination of words and phrases you can always make them better. In writing, “there is always space for improvement, no matter how long you've been in the business -Oscar De La Hoya”. There is not a piece that is perfect, it can always be revised. It is through revision that you improve, the more you work to improve something the better the outcome. As you try to make something better you start learning about your weakness and assets and that is what writing is. But, to improve also means to try different styles and techniques. When experimenting and putting our skills on trial we improve our writing style. It is also through improvement that we are all capable of enjoying something. The more you practice and get better at something the more you enjoy it. In this portfolio, my writing was on trial. Throughout the year I experimented with various themes that allowed me to determine the areas I can improve on and the areas where I am already skilled but may become a master. The pieces in this portfolio are placed in such unstructured way so that the reader can understand how my writing style changed depending on the storyline. In this portfolio, the idea was to demonstrate how throughout the year my writing was on trial to determine what was I good at and what I could improve. 3 of 33
