10 habits for a healthy lifestyle

08

Learn how to live a healthier lifestyle by adopting just 10 simple habits.

BECAUSE YOUR HEALTH matters

3. Rest

Do your best to ensure that each day you are well-rested. If possible, do not overwork yourself—remember that your health is the most important thing in life. Your body will thank you by rewarding you with much more energy and a better, happier mood (for more information, check out the Sleeping Well section of this issue).

4. Focus on the Facts

Make informed food choices. Read food labels and learn how to understand ‘Serving Size’ and ‘% Daily Value’. Analyzing food labels will make you aware of exactly what you are consuming, helping you decide whether the food is healthy or not. It will also allow you to compare the same foods from different brands in order to get the most bang for your buck.

1. Stay Hydrated

Water is an essential nutrient; the human body is composed mainly of water. Water has many vital benefits and is essential for your health. It helps transport nutrients and waste through the body, improves skin, normalizes blood pressure, regulates body temperature, and more. It is crucial to drink fluids often— particularly if you exercise frequently or live in an extremely hot climate. Always listen to your body when it tells you it’s thirsty!

2. Engage in 30 or More Minutes of Physical Activity per Day

Participating in 30 or more minutes of regular physical activity per day helps prevent and manage a vast range of health problems and concerns, from depression to cancer. Exercising can also help you reach and maintain a healthy body weight. Even if you don’t feel like going to the gym for a hardcore workout, you can still go on a long walk or jog outside and reap the benefits of physical activity (for more information, check out the Fitness Time section of this issue).
