them before you joined the band?
[Seth] I’m thirty-one, so when I started playing
guitar it was around 2000. I don’t make any
secret about it, one of my guitar heroes is Mark
Tremonti. When I was twelve years old and
started playing… Creed was at their pinnacle.
I tell people that when I look at Mark, in this
age of Rock music he’s maybe one of our last
guitar heroes. He was a big influence, and from
that time I always wanted one. I looked at the
price tag when I was thirteen years old, and
was like, “Oh my gosh!” Fast-forward to when
I was twenty-two or twenty-three, I bought my
first one. It’s a 2008 SC250 in a black cherry
finish, and I think that’s still my number one
just because I love how it feels and it was my
first one. There’s just something really special
about it, like if you want an old Les Paul there
is something special about finally being able to
buy that old Les Paul, or that Tele or that Strat.
That guitar is like that for me, and it’s a Ten Top,
so it’s gorgeous. I don’t always have it out on
the road, but I do right now, and if you flip down
through my Instagram feed you will see a bright
black cherry PRS, that’s it!
So that was the first one I bought. Then when
I joined the band it was kind of seamless
because that’s all I had ever wanted to play,
and it just worked out that the relationship was
already in place. That was something I kind of
had to make clear to the powers that be there. I
wanted them to know that this was a dream of
mine, being able to have this relationship with
PRS. It’s been awesome!
I don’t know if you saw, but last fall we were
out in Portland and I actually had three guitars
stolen, and amongst them were some of the
first ones that I ever got. I think the first one
that I ever personally ordered, picked the finish,
all of that, was a charcoal burst SC250, and it
was one of the ones that got stolen… which is
a bummer.
That black cherry is my number one. I have
another one that I keep in Drop C in the yellow
tiger finish, I love how that guitar feels. I have a
