Having penned and led songs that include
“Hosanna”, “Lead Me to the Cross”, “None but
Jesus”, “New Wine”, “Who You Say I Am” “What
a Beautiful Name”, and “King of Kings”, Brooke
Ligertwood’s contribution to modern worship
is nothing short of prolific. That said, Brooke’s
‘heart for the house’ is demonstrated by the
fact that she’s just as happy to be serving the
local Hillsong campus in Orange County, CA as
she is touring the globe with Hillsong Worship!
In this insightful interview, Brooke shares her
thoughts on ‘Awake’, leading worship, and her
beloved Martin guitars!
[WM] A great record is often marked by the

What were some of the most immersive things
about making Awake for you?
[Brooke
Ligertwood]
Probably
the
capturing of the spontaneity of a worship
experience in a studio setting, when traditionally
it’s always happened for us in a live setting. But
capturing that authenticity, that spontaneity and
as a result, the immersive thing that you hear…
that was very rewarding.

The DNA that began our church… which
is that we’re a worshiping church, we’re an

for every single person. And that taking up
the cross, and following Jesus, is the greatest
adventure that you could ever embark upon.
