[Clark] Yeah, I would say “I Need” is always
a big one, I start almost every show with that
one. I wrote that song with the idea of writing
a song to start a show with. “James and
Natalie” people always love, people ask about
it afterwards. “Hocus Pocus” is really fun live
because of all the looping and guitar solos, I
really love that style of music, maybe more than
“James and Natalie”
“Hocus Pocus”
any other. “Must Be Hard Being You” is really
fun live because I get to whip out the bass and
make people believe that I can play bass as
well, and I get to do some other looping things
that really stretch me. Then there is “Sleep”,
“Sleep” didn’t quite make it because it’s difficult
sometimes to do a piano ballad for a concert
when people are used to the more up-tempo
stuff, but I play that sometimes. So, I would say
all of them have their own special thing, but
the first one that comes to mind for me that
strikes me and strikes people as the most fun
is “I Need”.
[WM] You’ve posted on YouTube a song
from “Year One”, as a guitar tutorial. It’s very
cool that you did this and it’s a great way to
further connect with listeners and learners. I’m
speaking of course to the song, “I Need”.
[Clark] Thank you!
[WM] In less than a week you’re heading to
the UK. Have you performed there before?
[Clark] No, I’ve never been to London, I’ve
never been to the UK. I’ve been to Europe
once. I had my fifteenth birthday there actually,
and I wasn’t really so aware of everything. I
definitely had a cross cultural experience there
and it widened my horizons, but it’s been a long
time since I’ve been to Europe, and I’ve always
