Lava pedalboard cables have been a staple on thousands of boards since their inception back in 2004. In 2025, they were re-launched, and you will notice a new look on the packaging, with the same excellent quality. I was looking forward to doing a real-world review. I’ m very familiar with Lava cables and have always heard good things about the product. I hadn’ t ever had a chance to try them yet. I put together a perfect project rebuilding my studio pedalboard using all Lava cables. The only exceptions are the stereo TRS cables and MIDI 5-Pin DIN plugs. My challenge was to determine if they could compete with the previous soldered cables in terms of noise rejection, tone, and durability. This is my review putting the Lava Solderless cables to the test.
OUT OF THE BOX: The cables typically come in packages of 10 ft of cable, 10 connectors, and an orange wire stripper tool. Both the DC BOSS-type power jacks and ¼ inch audio jacks can use the same cable. The cables come in multiple colors, including black, red, blue, and green, to name a few. Once opened, it’ s clear that these are going to be high-quality cables. The cable itself is very flexible and should be able to fit in some pretty tight spots. On the back of each package are instructions for assembling the cables.
