closed back machine heads. And the nut and saddle are quality Tusq.
The electronics installed in the SC-10E is the Fishman MX-T electronics system with inside sound hole volume and tone controls, built-in tuner and easy access battery at the bottom of the guitars body. As opposed to most higherend Martin guitars the SC-10E has a Satin finish on the entire body and the neck. Like past SC models it features the Sure Align neck system where you can set the action to your liking with different plastic neck shims accessed inside of the sound hole. Martin doesn’ t specify what kind of wood the neck is constructed of, but it is hardwood, and it feels substantial in your hands.
The Martin SC-10E was designed in the US but it is crafted at Martin’ s Navajoa, Mexico factory. Played acoustically the SC-10E delivers a fuller mid-range sound than most Martin guitars. It has less treble tonality but delivers some warm bass sounds when strumming chords or single notes. Plugged in the SC-10E sounded great and the with the Fishman electronics I achieved the sound I wanted quickly. The lower sound hole built-in tuner is very handy also and accurate.
The neck on the SC-10E plays fast and effortless. The Martin SC-10E would work best for guitarists that are more comfortable playing electric than acoustic or have smaller hands. Priced at only $ 999 the Martin SC-10E is a quality constructed solid would guitar with built-in electronics, tuner and gig bag for under $ 1,000.
The SC-10E plays as great as it looks hanging on a guitar stand. Younger musicians seeking to cut their own musical paths will definitely be drawn to the SC-10E and I prefer the warmer tonality and subtle styling! It works well with capos too. Martin’ s SC-10E is ready to play at church, home or the next youth event right out of the box!
