Martin first released their innovative SC model at the 2020 NAMM show in Anaheim and it was the SC-13E guitar. This year the Martin company has brought a more cost-effective option to the SC line with the SC-10E. Some acoustic guitar, and Martin, purists have not been a fan of this redesigned Asymmetrical body shape or the bolt-on neck attachment system. Personally, I like it for multiple reasons.
First off, the neck is a high-performance taper, so it is thin and feels more like an electric guitar neck profile. Secondly, the off-set body is very comfortable to play seated and balanced when standing. Thirdly, the beveled neck heel affords easier access all the way up the neck with no restrictions.
Key differences in the SC-10E are that the back, sides and top are constructed from Sapele wood which give it a warmer tonality similar to a mahogany. Also, there is no binding on the body, neck or headstock. The SC-10E is constructed with the tone tension scalloped X-bracing which can be seen through the sound hole. Instead of rosewood or ebony the fretboard is made of Martin’ s Richlite. The tuners are Martin chrome
