Program Change [ PC ] mode sends out MIDI cues that can control lighting , ProPresenter , and a variety of audio options at the same time … whatever you program with MIDI notes .
With the PAD [ PAD ] mode , the Looptimus ® will send out MIDI notes to play chords for backing pads . In your DAW ( Ableton or Studio One for me ), select a virtual instrument that you like and on your Looptimus ® , select the key you want to play in using the previous and next buttons and then you can step on the chord you need based on the Nashville Number System … 1 , 2m , 3m , 4 , 5 , 6m .
There is also the “ All Access Bank ” where the six selection switches become MIDI notes or Program Changes for quick access . I run Ableton in Session View ( see video ), but let ’ s say you need to run it in Arrangement View ( looks like a DAW ). Your first switch can select song 1 but then you need to be able to fire or play that song . Stepping on the “ All Access ” button for one second would provide access to switches that can be programmed to be play and stop and even to toggle on or off the Ableton metronome … it ’ s really up to your ingenuity .
Check out the video where I show you how to get the Looptimus + ® connected to your computer . It ’ s not like connecting a wireless mouse or keyboard . I ’ ll also show you how it functions with Prime and Ableton Live .
With so many options , there are multiple ways to utilize the Looptimus + ® . You ’ ll need to evaluate your needs based on your pool of volunteers at church to come up with the best use for you . Like I mentioned above , you can use it to simply just control click tracks and enhancements or if you don ’ t have someone who understands lighting or someone who can man your ProPresenter computer , you ’ re able to control all of it with the stomp of your foot ! It ’ s totally flexible and not like a one-trick-pony .
For instance , we have a lunch once a month for our senior ministry . I played music last month ( before I had the Looptimus + ® ) and used some backing pads just for filler . I love backing pads … usually they swell around the 1-chord , but using the Looptimus + ® , I could have had the chords change with me … G , D , Em , C rather than just a swell around the G-chord .
The Looptimus ® has become an industry standard for controlling tracks and the Looptimus + ® is a welcome upgrade ! I know we have two Looptimus ® at my church and my son is using my old Looptimus ® at his church . The original Looptimus ® has an MSRP of $ 299 and the Looptimus + ® is $ 399 .
