GEAR REVIEW
LOOP COMMUNITY LOOPTIMUS +® | Mitch Bohannon
KEY FEATURES
• Solid build
• Quiet stomp switches
• No wires
• Easy connectivity to MIDI devices
The Looptimus ® has been a favorite foot controller of mine for many years . It has a rugged , metal chassis and it ’ s built to last with familiar stomp-box foot switches . It has multiple functions and is super easy to setup and connect to Prime or Ableton or any MIDIcontrollable DAW or player .
One of my only frustrations over the years is that the Looptimus ® had to be tethered to my laptop within 25 feet by a USB ( A to B ) cable … I ’ ve always called this a “ printer cable ”. Keeping my computer close was not always an issue but having another cable on the floor to be stepped on , pulled , and hopefully , not disconnected was … and I have been accidentally disconnected before !
After a long time of developing and testing , Loop Community has now released the Bluetooth Looptimus + ® . Yay ! Out of the box , it ’ s the same rugged , Looptimus ® I have loved for many years . It still has nine stomp switches around the top , an LED screen to show your setting selection , and lights to show power and now Bluetooth connection . The nine switches include six that can be programmed to songs , sections , or sounds , a dedicated stop switch , and previous / next switches to change selections . Along the back there are two ¼ ” jacks for a Looptimus ® Mini and an expression pedal ( like the Roland EV-5 or the MAUDIO-EXP ). There ’ s also a port for optional power supply , a USB-B port for charging the on-board battery that holds about 24 hours of use , a MIDI out , and the on / off switch .
The Looptimus + ® has the same three modes as the original Looptimus ® , just wireless !
The default [ DEF ] mode is what I use to trigger tracks in Prime or Ableton .
