for people to hear. In a record full of big names, to end a record with someone no one’s ever heard of, and with a song that I think everyone will be like, what is that and who is this artist? That’s what’s happening because this song is so powerful. The story behind this song is Blessings from Nigeria grew up with lots of siblings and he’s been in Nashville for a while now. He said, “I remember the sound of rain on a tin roof”, because he had a tin roof with those African rains at night. He said, “I remember that sound, and that’s what makes me think of home. And when I think about heaven, I think about heaven as home, and so I hope in some way it’s that sound of rain on a tin roof.” And when he was telling met this I was just tearing up. So I said, “Can you record this song on the record?” The studio was on shutdown and all these kinds of things, and my record was pretty much done, so I thought how could we record this. Blessing just said, “I’ll just do it myself and send it to you.” So what you hear is him at the piano and doing his vocal by himself and recording himself. All the rest of the record is done by producers and with arrangers, and he did that by himself, he’s that good. It’s just so special, and I came on a couple weeks later and sang on it. But he’s incredible, he’s got such a heart for God, and he’s got an incredible story, and I hope that more and more people hear this song. [WM] And the song called “Thank You Lord” is so joyful and expresses gratitude in such a great way. It’s like a Country music Psalm! Tell us about this one as well? Thank You Lord [Chris] “Thank You Lord” is just a great picture of the record, it’s all the worlds coming together between Thomas Rhett, Florida Georgia Line and myself, and all sounds and the DNA and the differences that we bring to the music, you feel that in this song. There is so much joy in this song, and I’ve said forever that worship comes from a grateful heart, and to live with a grateful heart. Especially in these moments, what a song for this time and these hard times. It is a thank you to God for all the small things in life, all the things we take for granted, and the chorus is all the big things in life, our parents, our friends, our spouse, our family, all those things that we’re so thankful for. But I love the second verse, “Thank you Lord for the hard times”, because you don’t really say that in the hard times, no one really says thank you when you’re going through it, but when you’re looking back it’s like, thank you for what you brought me through. I am who I am because of that, and thank you for never giving up on me and for the patience that you’ve shown me. Those September 2020 Subscribe for Free... 15
