Chris Tomlin’ s The King Is Still the King, released on last month in September. It features 16 tracks and is Chris’ s first album in three years and his 18 th studio release overall. Because of its craftsmanship, heart, and well-thought through concept, it is this writer’ s opinion that it raises the bar for worship albums. The King is Still the King not only features the recent release,“ The First Hymn”, but also a remarkable collection of great new songs for the worshiping church.
[ Alex MacDougall ] It’ s great to see you, Chris! It’ s been three years since you and I had a visit. We’ ve talked about country music. We’ ve talked about worship music over the years, and I’ ve really been looking forward to talking to you about your new release, The King is Still the King. Thanks so much for your time today.
[ Chris Tomlin ] Yeah, thank you buddy. Great to talk to you again. Thank you so much.
[ WM ] Well, let’ s begin with this from CS Lewis’ s masterful work, The Screw Tape Letters. Uncle Screwtape writes to Wormwood,“ Be sure that the patient remains completely fixated on politics, arguments, political gossip, and obsessing on the faults of people they have never even met. Serve as an excellent distraction and he continues ensure that the patient continues to believe that the problem is out there in the broken system rather than recognizing there’ s a problem with himself. All this to say that focus in a world gone seemingly mad is difficult and it’ s difficult for believers as well. Your new record has focus. Chris.
What can you tell worship leaders about focusing on the things that are eternally important and raising our witness above the climate of our times?

I think I could just say amen to that and that could be the entire article because CS Lewis, I mean, hey, just how many times does he just really nail it? Right? I’ ve felt that this whole culture of worship of politics, it’ s like a whole religion and we are in a political
