The maple top is stained a beautiful transparent black and the mahogany body is finished in a nice warm amber with a gloss back and satin neck . I love that satin neck ! The white binding around the body , up the neck , and around the headstock is a perfect highlight to the top . Locking tuners and a reliable Bigsby B5 tremolo are on point and chrome Citizen humbuckers with a volume , tone , and 3-way switch round out the electronics .
Sitting with the guitar for the first time I found the balance and weight pleasant to hold and the neck profile got a gold sticker in my book ! I love a C-shaped neck and this one , for me , makes the fretboard so accessible . The slanted arm rest was a pleasant surprise as well . The intonation is spot-on and the action is set well . I quickly became a fan after strumming around a bit . The bridge pickup is bright with plenty of punch . The neck position is full and bold … it sounds like it really captures the body of the guitar . This is my first guitar with a Bigsby , so getting the bar in position and out of the way of the volume and tone controls took some getting used to , but I ’ m really digging the smooth action of the Bigsby !
This model is the C2 . The “ C ” is for “ Citizen ” and the number 2 represents the second original design from Jeff . Citizen currently offers seven body designs for solid body and semihollow , but also is pleased to do any custom work that customers would want . In addition , there are three hollow-body designs and two bass guitars . Jeff said they plan to roll out two or three new models each year .
Last week , I had my son , Sam lead worship with it and he loved it . In fact , he keeps asking for it back ! His hands are bigger than mine , so I thought he may find the neck to be too thin . However , he texted me ( after he started playing it ) that it may be his favorite neck of all our guitars ! Yesterday , I brought the guitar to my church and had one of our players play it in worship . The guitar sounded amazing in the house and the other guitar players kept grabbing it during breaks ! I would say , we are all more than pleased !
