THE WORLD WE KNOW I am a huge fan of the way the world of guitar pedals is changing lately . Or adapting would probably be a better word . The technology we have available to us means we can have an entire rig in a unit that fits in a backpack ! It ’ s crazy ! Some of us though ( myself included ) are huge fans of pedals . Pedal builders are adapting to accommodate and to offer some really innovative and flexible products while still staying true to the traditional analog things we love about them . One such builder is Jet Pedals . Jet started out with the Revelation verb ( we have covered this in a previous issue ) and made a HUGE sounding verb in a small MIDI controllable format . Junior Thomason ( founder and owner ) took that approach and applied it to drive pedals .
WHAT IT IS AND WHAT IT OFFERS The Lamb is an analog drive pedal with onboard presets and full MIDI control . But even being used sans MIDI the amount of sounds and flexibility is incredible ! The Lamb takes its inspiration from BluesBreaker style drives . “ While it is its own circuit ” Junior says , “ It can be closely compared to similar type of circuits like the Marshall BluesBreaker , Analog Man King of Tone , and JHS Morning Glory ”. To me these drive-types are the most similar to amp drive and that is part of the reason why they tend to be my favorite style of drive . JET really captured that in this box of tone AND gave users some great ways to tweak and transform that sound . The user has the option to change the circuit with three different clipping options ! Once you decide on your mode you have your standard knob options - volume , gain and tone . There ’ s also an added mid-boost knob to really allow the user to shape their sound . You aren ’ t going to get into tube screamer territory with it , but it can help you get a similar saturated sound if you would like when cranking that knob .
With a simple tap of the preset switch you can quickly call up a saved setting . Pressing and holding cycles through three on board presets and with MIDI you can access up to 100 ! There is also an easily accessible boost ! If you double tap the preset switch you get a volume boost and simply tapping again once will turn it off . This comes stock at its lowest setting , but you can increase that within the menus at startup . So even without MIDI you can easily have the setting your knobs are at , a volume boost , a
