someone who doesn’ t, their relationship with their father was fractured in ways that I haven’ t experienced. And like, oh, there’ s another, there’ s a challenge in it too. Am I putting my light under a bushel? Am I trying to dim a flame because my Dad’ s an extreme theatrical example of that, because he’ s a theater guy?
He’ s charismatic and he’ s loud and he’ s expressive. And it doesn’ t mean everyone has to have that personality, but what a great example of letting your light shine in ways that are true to you and God-given to you. And I think that the older you get, the brighter you burn. Hence the song, hence my Dad. Hence, as scriptures talk about life, live faithfully there, God-given eternal things happening that are not dimmed by life, they can actually be fuel. And I think that picture that lyrically in the song, even the joyfulness of the song, but also that illustrate example of my Dad, I think it’ s like the message is coming at you two ways there. That’ s been really helpful for me. And so, it really hits home for me.
[ WM ] Yeah. Well, it hit home for me too. I really enjoyed it and felt it. You know, I remember discussing in the past your interest in animation, and so I wanted to ask you, are you still interested in it? I really enjoy the Goro Fujita Qullustrations. Have you seen those? They’ re magnificent. They just come out about every day and they’ re just great.
[ Pat ] I have not seen those yet. It’ s so funny, I don’ t know if you’ ve seen the“ Hard Part of a Dream” video. Have you had a chance to see this?
[ WM ] Yes, I did. I loved it!
Hard Part Of A Dream( Official Music Video)
[ Pat ] Well, that’ s a great, because in that I wanted to use illustration again, and there’ s a young man, his name’ s Tab Will and he’ s an illustrator. And so, I reached out to him for this song. This is not like a Sunday morning worship song. It’ s really a song about faith and trust and stewarding what God’ s giving you and using different language to talk about it. And my question to him was like, could you illustrate this in a fun, meaningful way? And so, it’ s a black and white video, and it’ s almost like handdrawn characters that come to life that illustrate this song. And hopefully anyone who’ s sitting with a dream in their heart there … needed a little push to do it, and they feel like,“ Man, this could be God speaking into it.” That was the goal that it would help awaken some of that. So yeah, the answer is always interested in it. And I have kids in illustration is all over every movie they watch.
[ WM ] Well, it’ s a great song and one in which you poured you soul into. For me, I grew up in a Disney era and five miles from Disneyland
