hours of life per alkaline battery . And speaking of batteries , I ’ d strongly suggest staying away from the cheapo offerings from Amazon as they don ’ t offer the kind of performance brands like Duracell deliver .
PLAYER ’ S PERSPECTIVE Having reviewed all four Acoustasonic instruments , I have to say that Fender really knocked it out of the park on this one . This guitar is every bit as solid in build and tonal qualities as it ’ s American counterparts . In many ways this slightly stripped-down version is easier to approach . The adaptation of a three versus five-way switch makes it easier to remember which tones are where . And , truth be told , I tended to find one or two main acoustic sounds that I liked on each instrument and used those . Simply put , I love this guitar and had a great time playing it and crafting tones .
The three-way switch and dual knobs make for a very familiar feeling experience . The threeway switch enables you to select tones . The volume control just controls the volume , while the ‘ tone control ’ modifies those tones . On stage and especially in the studio , this enables you to instantly craft a sound to fit the song and / or part . This is a big deal , not to be overlooked .
TELE PICKUP While I found this pickup to be a bit bright when using the Boss GT-1000CORE that lives on my desktop , pulling back the high end delivered a ton of amazing tones be it clean or driven . Going from spanky cleans to Eric Johnsoninspired lead tones on this instrument is totally doable , and totally awesome ! Besides having to pull back some high-end on my ‘ traditional ’ electric settings this option is a game changer , now available at a price that more people will be able to fit into their gear budget .
FOR WORSHIP The ability to tailor your sound is a giant win for worship guitar players and sound team . Gibson players love the deep body that Gibson acoustics are known for . Martin players love the evenness of the frequency response and tend to choose models based on size and the corresponding low-end they deliver . Taylor ’ s on the other hand have a pronounced top end that enables worship leaders to better hear their guitars in the mix . The APT enables you to tap into all of that with the flip of a switch and the turn of a knob . It ’ s pretty amazing .
This is also a great guitar for worship leaders looking ( or needing ) to add electric guitar to their repertoire . The thin body , forearm countour , and scalloped heel deliver the comfort of an electric , while the feel and waterfall sound hole deliver the playing experience of an acoustic .
