at Highlands , and on our Worship Creative staff that contribute to writing parts . A lot of the time someone will throw an idea down , then I ’ ll build off of it . Sometimes I might spontaneously come up with lead lines or parts on my own , and sometimes it ’ s a big group effort . We just always have to be ready to adapt parts or sometimes scrap them completely .
[ WM ] One of the many impressive things about your YouTube tutorials is your intonation , even on transitions where intonation can take the back burner . How much time have you spent working on this , and what tips do you have for player in terms of improving their intonation ?
[ Wesley ] My secret is I let the pros fix up all my guitars ! We have a really great luthier / guitar tech in Birmingham , AL that I have set up all my guitars . My advice is if you want to dive into learning how to properly setup guitars and spend a lot of time on the craft , then I ’ m sure you ’ ll reap great success from it . If you ’ re like me and don ’ t have a ton of time to spend on making your guitar play and feel amazing , then let the pros handle it because they do it for a living every day .

[ WM ] How long does it take for you to put together one of these tutorials ?
[ Wesley ] It kinda depends on the song . If it is a song that I am very familiar with , then it won ’ t take very long to figure the parts and tones out and get the video filmed and edited . If it is a song I have never heard of and maybe has a lot of guitar tracks , then it will take me a good bit longer to get everything done .
[ WM ] Curious as to why you create separate tutorials for rhythm and lead vs . put them in the same video ?
[ Wesley ] I mainly just use my channel to resource guitarists at Highlands for new songs we play , which we normally have two guitarists on stage and those parts are covered by them . I will make the lead videos to be the main hooks of the song that you hear and could be covered by one guitarist .
