and the smaller body size is comfortable . The fretboard , shape of the neck and nut width ( 1 & 3 / 4 ”) all feel so easy to play . The production and projection of this small body guitar is surprising .
The first time I played this A-30 I was in a strumming mood . Wow , big sound for a little guitar and the mahogany top works really well for a rhythm instrument . If your worship team has two acoustic guitars , the blending of a mahogany top with a spruce top makes for a well-rounded sound . The deep overtones of this mahogany guitar can provide a great counterpoint to a spruce guitar .
The second time I came back to play the A-30 I committed to not using a pick and stuck with fingerstyle playing . After 20-minutes I was completely captivated by this instruments warmth and at the same time clarity . The tone was nuanced and resonant . The sound would build nicely when playing fervently and when you played a soft passage it remained articulate .
There is one more positive about this 00 size body . When you are playing more bluesy solos the string tension is lighter than a dreadnought and I seem to find a sweet spot for bending notes from around the 7 th to the 12 th frets . You should try it – it is fun !
All in all , this A-30 model , with its boutique build quality , simplified classic looks and full range warm tones is a winner . I would be happy to own one .
