Her new project , Royalty : Tasha Cobbs Live at the Ryman , is a masterful , artistic , and worshipfilled capturing of songs and the presence God .
[ WM ] Tasha , what an incredible privilege it is for me to visit with you ! I really appreciate this time with you .
[ Tasha Cobbs Leonard ] Thank you for this opportunity !
[ WM ] It ’ s funny . I ’ ve been following you for several years now . I ’ ve listened to your work with Matt Redman , We the Kingdom , Brenton Brown , and others , both as a songwriter and co-leader of worship , and sometime last year I had determined that you are a bridge builder and crossover artist . And then I recently read that exact descriptive had been spoken over you years ago by a pastor saying to you , “ You will be a worship bridge to all nations .” Please tell us about the music world that the Lord has opened up to you . What ’ s it like being a little girl growing up in Jesup , Georgia , and the calling that God has given you ?
[ Tasha ] Wow ! I love this question ! One thing that I think we sometimes overlook or downplay about Jesus is that he was confident in who He was ! He was very verbal about who He was . I believe it is imperative that we know our purpose in life . It ’ s important that we know who we are . I know that I am called to be a bridge to the nations . At a very young age my parents began cultivating that gift . My

parents and spiritual leaders knew who I was before I knew who I was . The trusted voices of leadership in my life were very intentional about cultivating my gifts . Once I was mature enough to understand and walk out my assignment , I became very intentional about being a bridge . I am intentional about my choices , keeping in mind that my actions and decisions impact so many lives .
[ WM ] In the 60 ’ s Motown Records integrated mainstream airwaves and AM radios in automobiles across the country . Here we are 60 years later , and you and Motown Gospel are escorting a much-welcomed change and palate to Christian music and worship in the church . Andraé ( Crouch ) did this , but very few others have been able to . You Tasha , are bringing the passion , dynamics , and free expression of Gospel music into the contemporary worshiping church . That ’ s a powerful combination . Tell us about unity and what you envision for a worshiping church .
[ Tasha ] I honestly believe that our differences are on purpose by God ! Every culture , nationality , and generation have different expressions
