[ WM ] Tell us how the growth happened to extend now into six campuses ?
[ Aaron ] Since the beginning , The Austin Stone met in temporary spaces like apartment complexes , school gymnasiums and cafeterias . In 2018 , we launched a second congregation in the St . John neighborhood in central Austin , while the downtown congregation continued to meet at Austin High School in the heart of downtown Austin . Since then , we have expanded to include South , West , North , and Northwest congregations to serve the very diverse and ever-expanding city of Austin .
[ WM ] What are your responsibilities on staff ?
[ Aaron ] As the Pastor of Worship and Creativity , my primary responsibilities include leading and shepherding our Creative Team ( which consists of Worship , Story , Design ,
Production and Communication ). I ’ m blown away to get to work alongside the most passionate and talented creatives I ’ ve ever known . I want to serve them well by empowering them to use every gift God has given them , as well as casting vision for the type of Creative Team we need to be to serve The Austin Stone and the city of Austin with the good news of Jesus . I also serve as one of our Central Elders , a teaching pastor and a songwriter for Austin Stone Worship .
[ WM ] Kyle , you also have a unique role to play at The Austin Stone as well . Tell us about your responsibilities ?
[ Kyle Lent ] I serve as the Music Director at The Austin Stone , which kind of has two overlapping but distinct roles . Week to week , I help make sure worship on Sundays goes well , supervising our worship leaders and helping
to resource them to do their jobs , as well as giving feedback from campus to campus . The other part is helping to direct Austin Stone Music , which is our little micro-label . I do a lot of recording , producing , and mixing in my studio on some projects , and executive producing others . So , I would say that the majority of my time is split pretty evenly between being at the studio and being at the office .
[ WM ] I find the concept of the micro label interesting . Fill us in on that ?
[ Kyle ] We ’ re blessed to have a tremendous amount of talented artists in our Austin Stone Worship family ( which we call our “ Collective ”), and while Sundays have a modern worship sound , a lot of songwriters , producers , and musicians create other styles of worship in varying genres . We ’ re learning how to steward those amazing projects well by helping to make
