was her promise. And she said for a year she’ s just been sitting in that text. And then so for her now to have the song that sings that text over her that she’ s been living in and so personal for her … you just hear things like that and you’ re like,“ The Lord knows what he’ s doing and knows who he’ s sending these songs to.” So I just get grateful when I get to see a little glimpse of,“ Oh, that’ s who God was sending it to.”
[ WM ] Wonderful. Well, using the Word as a co-writer, how do you split points on a song like that?( laughing)
[ Brooke ] The answer is that you do, because the Bible is not public domain.
[ WM ] Oh no! You do?
[ Brooke ] Exactly.
[ WM ] Wow. So regarding this EAT album, what I think about it is because it’ s more creative and I love it, is you have to actually pay more attention to it. This is not background music where you can just run around the house and do your laundry or stuff like that. The Bible as lyrics is stickier, this will draw the listener in even deeper because you’ re giving them the Word. So all right. Let’ s jump to another subject. I know the A & R folks at C. F. Martin guitars and of course you’ ve had your 000-28 Brooke Ligertwood Signature model, and it sold way better than they expected it to. And I know that it was born out of your love for your Paul Simon Signature guitar and your Eric Clapton Signature guitar. But they only made 221 of those Paul Simon’ s. Do you still have yours?
[ Brooke ] I do. Mine’ s number 112. Never
Brooke Ligertwood x Martin Guitar Story letting go of that. There’ s some guitars that I’ m just never letting go of.( laughing)
[ WM ] I agree with you on that. Hang on to that one. Do you still have the Clapton model?
[ Brooke ] I still have that, and I actually have that in two colors. But the thing is, I have a really hard time letting go of guitars because I’ m just like... I don’ t know.
I mean, you( Bruce) must have to do it because you have so many, but I feel like I’ ve got my little collection and now I’ m kind of set. I don’ t really want to part with them. But sometimes I do,
I’ m like, do I need two Eric Claptons? Probably not.( laughing)
[ WM ] It’ s okay. So, I’ ve whittled my collection down. I produce guitar shows on the West Coast, so we buy and sell guitars and flip them quite a bit, but I whittled my personal collection down. But folks at Martin were very pleased with how your Signature model has gone and they love you as a person. You have been a great witness to them at the company. So that’ s cool to see.
[ Brooke ] That was so fun to work with. I loved it!
