WE ARE MESSENGERS Where The Joy Is
NEW LIFE WORSHIP God Is could easily be used to round out or kick off a sermon series on keeping our eyes on Jesus .

Celtic-Irish rockers We Are Messengers have been in the CCM game for more than a decade and are well-known across the planet for their celebratory , out-of-the-box approach to worship that has blessed the church with such loved anthems as “ God You Are ,” “ Come What May ” and “ Magnify ” which put them on the map way back in 2016 . Their latest bouncy release , Where the Joy Is is a true We Are Messengers album , chock full of catchy melodies and poignant themes wrapped around peppy 80 ’ s esque Irish alternative musical landscapes .
The infectious energy and groove of opening track , “ Keep Your Head Up ” serves to open the album well setting up the hope filled theme of God ’ s resiliency and faithfulness right from the start . Even though I wouldn ’ t classify this first track as Sunday morning sing-along per se , it
Lead worshiper , Darin Mulligan ’ s unique Irish baritone plays off the Motown funky bass lines in the title track as he reminds us that our God is still good . And His joy never ends , but that we need to re-focus ourselves on what He has done for us to see His face .
Nowhere does the central theme of this collection shine clearer than on the congregationally ready , “ God Be The Glory ”. Here , we hear about how our God finds us in the midst of our mess , ready to quit and covers us with His love and promises that never fail . The melody is easy to pick up and I could easily see a lot of churches singing this one .
“ Worthy of Being Loved ” is another track that probably is more of a personal listen as opposed to being sung during family worship but the intimate nature of the lyrics here about how God ’ s blood made every one of us worthy of being saved should be sung loud and clear .
The songs here are really a welcome balm for a lonely soul . These are songs intended to make you smile and remember who is in charge of the universe when things seem uncertain and dark . We Are Messengers gives the plain answer throughout this album ; Jesus is reigning , and He is where our joy is .

10 . Where the Story Ends
It has been a few years since we heard new
music from Colorado based , New Life Worship
led by veteran worship pastor , Jon Egan ,
formerly of The Desperation Band . 2022 saw
the release of their last full-length album but
2024 brings newly penned songs on the 10
track collection , God Is .
Musically , there is nothing special or out of the
ordinary when it comes to instrumentation ,
arranging or structure here but this album
actually shines both thematically and lyrically
throughout ,
save
the
occasional
cliché .
Thematically , the album centers on God as
the true Alpha and Omega . These songs are
crafted around the majesty and wonder of God
as creator , sustainer and ultimate redeemer
that humanity has needed from the dawn of
time until Christ returns to rescue His people .
