Brian Wampler has a history of involving artists to collaborate on signature pedals . Names like Brad Paisley , Brent Mason , Tom Quayle , and Andy Wood have each brought their expertise to the Wampler collection of pedals . Brian recently teamed up with legendary guitarist Cory Wong to create an impressive , unique compressor pedal . The Cory Wong Signature Compressor combines Compressor , Boost , and DI .
OUT OF THE BOX : The Cory Wong Compressor comes with four optional rubber feet , a cloth bag , and some cool stickers . The casing is a bright retro-surf turquoise color . On top are six silver knobs with a modern texture on the sides . The knobs are Attack , Tone , “ Sustaaiin ,” Volume , Blend , and Boost . The mini switch for the boost circuit chooses either a mid-bump or a flat EQ boost . The three-color LED shows three modes : Green shows the Compressor is engaged , Blue shows the Boost is on , and Rainbow white shows both Compressor and Boost are on . Also on top are two soft foot switches , one for Compress and one for Boost . A small button on the right side keeps the Compressor always on . On the left side is a handy XLR DI with a ground lift . In-N-Out jacks are on the back to save space , along with a 9 V DC Boss-type Jack .
IN USE : I ’ ve been a pro-compressor guy for as long as I can remember . I almost always have at least one on my pedalboard and another after a mic preor within my DAW . I understand compression , and compressors are my friends . I ’ ve been a fan of the Wampler EGO compressor , and there are a few similarities here .
