4 . WE DON ’ T NEED NO STINKING BADGES ! Unlike the Federales in the film The Treasure of the Sierra Madre , you actually will need a badge to attend these events . Aside from the travel costs that you may need to consider if the events are outside of your immediate area , there are also often registration or badge fees to take into consideration on the budget side of things . If you are actually in the market for purchasing AVL gear in the near future , reach out to your key industry partners and ask if they can hook you up with a badge . Once again , don ’ t be afraid to ask ! The key here is to ask well out in advance of the show . To get a sense of why it is important to ask well in advance , let ’ s look at one industry player and one show as an example .

NAMM allocates some number of free industry accommodation badges to AM & S , often tied to the overall square footage of exhibit space . But every brand that AM & S distributes is going to need badges for their key staff , key dealers , etc . Without divulging too much detail here and getting into trouble sharing the specifics here , I can say that AM & S easily has hundreds of badge requests come our way for a show like NAMM . If the request is sent to us ( usually by a connected dealer or manufacturer or related artist ) before the free badge deadline that NAMM imposes , we ’ ll add people to the list 99 % of the time . So back to point # 1 here again — have a plan of attack . Get out in front of the upcoming shows and reach out to see if you can get a few free badges for your team . Check with dealers , industry folks you know , or even email me or hit me up on LinkedIn . For some shows we can help , but not always for every show . Most importantly , get any requests for badges over ASAP !
So where should you start as far as checking out the key trade shows and seeking out free badges and getting your questions jotted down ? Here is a quick list of the top shows that
