2 . SEEK OUT ‘ HANGS ’ Sometimes trade events have the really hip events ( especially performances ) off site and / or after hours . To this point , the fine folks at [ WM ] Worship Musician put together a cool ‘ Pre-NAMM HANG ’ which allowed for lots of casual hangs and jam time with a number of top manufacturers and industry players — all happening before NAMM ‘ proper ’ even kicked off . Held at a cool venue ( a former tractor factory ) about a 10-minute Uber ride away from the convention center , this is the exact sort of event where longer discussions with gear experts can be had .
In the crazy hustle and bustle of the NAMM Show floor , it would be a bit tricky to speak with multiple product experts for 30 minutes uninterrupted , but this is exactly the sort of opportunity that the Pre-NAMM HANG offered for anyone wanting to chat up the Allen & Heath crew for example . We had folks from the product and marketing teams on hand to answer questions and the crowd around the small booth here was in the 5-10 attendee range vs . the 50-100 attendee range that the main A & H convention center NAMM booth generally witnessed . Check the schedule , look for cool offsite hangs — and have fun .
3 . DON ’ T BE AFRAID TO ASK I know that it might be intimidating walking up to the fancy engineer at the fancy audio company booth with the fancy audio company logoed shirt and asking her what you might perceive as a ‘ silly question ’ about the gear . But trust me , we love hearing your questions and getting feedback about our products and there is no such thing as a stupid question . Well , maybe stay away from knock-knock jokes or something like that , but otherwise — ask away !
Sometimes the best questions that I ’ ve heard at shows come from folks who aren ’ t ‘ technical ’ at all .
