everyone recalls back to that time , it felt like every day was a year ' s worth of information . It ' s like , " Okay , now we know this and now ..." No one knew anything .
[ WM ] It still keeps changing .
[ Lincoln ] It does , but I do feel like ... Obviously , I think there ' s a lot more hope and this kind of ‘ light at the end of the tunnel ’ feeling . There ' s a lot more good things . But back then we were standing at the entrance to a black tunnel . Like , " I guess we ' re going in there , and no one really knows ..." It was very weird .
So the record label made the decision . We talked together , and I said , " Look , I have no idea . I want to be able to do what I need to do to support the record ." I was going to do a few things outside of my Sabbatical stuff , and then go back to it . I just said , " I don ' t think any of us know what ' s going on ." Everyone was trying to figure out how to function in their own skin at that time .

And one of the things that we talked about was wanting to shape the record sonically and vibewise with real players .
So they actually came out , and we tracked the whole thing in my studio and really did band takes . You know what I mean ? Like , we really wanted the songs to function around a band set-up . And then from a production standpoint , they filled it in from there .
Seth and X are two of the nicest guys on the planet . And I really mean that . They ' re just both so pleasant to be around , and they ' re fun and funny . They both stayed at my house , and we had a ball making the record . We would get to laughing so hard every night . It was just ridiculous .
And then when they went back to Nashville , we did some stuff that I hadn ' t done before . We were trying to , basically , between the three of us , figure out the best remote method to record . Because it was going to be hard for them to come back out here , and it was going
