there but with Jesus . That is really my favorite moment to worship in and it happens in every culture and language that I have led . It makes me see the beauty in all of our differences . There is one commonality and it ’ s the need we have for Jesus and the need we have to be connected to Him .
[ WM ] What would you say to those who are currently serving on worship teams as worship leaders and church musicians ?
that person is enjoying freedom because they are going against the grain of their culture .
With Hispanics it ’ s kind of the opposite , we are passionate , and it shows in our praise because its automatic for us to lift our hands , it ’ s automatic for us to shout , it ’ s automatic for us to speak out loud and start clapping out of nowhere . I also see that a lot in the African American culture , which I have been close to as well , they are outwardly passionate , and they are not afraid of it . So that ’ s why their songs are so powerful . It ’ s easy to get over cultural dilemmas and just jump into heaven culture , which is a free worshipping culture , and it shows . When I sing in bilingual settings , I ’ m like a fish in the water because that ’ s me , I ’ m a Spanglish girl . My Dad was a white Anglo from European descent , and my Mom a Hispanic from Italian descent . So , I ’ m like two different worlds in one person , and when I get to lead and worship in that kind of environment , especially when I get to just flip languages which makes me so happy because my brain works in Spanglish … carrying a conversation in one language is like speaking a foreign language to me because I speak both at the same time at home .
My favorite thing to do is to do it bi-lingual and sometimes tri-lingual and be able to be moving back and forth as I ’ m comfortable with . But I do absolutely enjoy watching . You know there is that moment leading worship where you start and people are kind of accepting you , they ’ re getting your groove , they ’ re getting the beat . They ’ re getting the anointing and they ’ re moving in it . But there is a point during the set where everybody is connected , and their eyes kind of widen up and their hands automatically go into the air and it ’ s like their heart is no longer
[ Christine ] The first thing I would say is , especially in the season of pandemic where I know that most states are still not open , most churches are not fully congregating physically … listen to the Lord saying , “ Well done my faithful servant , in everything you do .” Foreshadow that in your heart and in your mind , and in the moments where it gets really , really , tough , tough to lead , tough to follow , tough to submit , tough to bridge the gaps between the people and the Lord and the people and the leadership . When it gets tough , think of those tough moments as diamonds that are being polished , so that when the moments come you have something to offer the Lord in the eternal realm that we are all going to end up in . “ Well done good and faithful servants .” Those are the moments that we earn that .
[ WM ] Thank you again for this time today . Best wishes for your new endeavors and may God ’ s blessing continue to be upon you .
[ Christine ] Amen , thank you Alex and same to you , I pray the Lord ’ s blessing covering the blood of Jesus over to you and your family and this endeavor . Thank you for being another mouthpiece for the glory of Got to be heard .
