Using the included IK Multimedia’ s ARC X software, you can create and upload to your DAW a correction profile that aligns the subwoofer with your nearfield monitors and the acoustic characteristics of your acoustic space. The latest version of ARC X includes a dedicated stereo-plus-sub configuration.
iLoud Sub works like an audio device in Windows. It can be used with standard Windows audio( WASAPI or WDM) and with ASIO in your DAW through its drivers. The key difference from a typical audio interface is that it is output-only, it does not accept any audio inputs. The ARC X software does use ASIO technically for sending and receiving the calibration signals, but it does not process audio input and output the way a DAW does.
Using the included calibration microphone, you can easily create a calibration profile. The system plays test sweeps to measure how low frequencies behave in your room, including reflections and problem bass buildup. The software then creates a correction curve to reduce these issues while keeping the sound natural. It also aligns the phase and crossover between the subwoofer and your main monitors, so the low-end blends smoothly instead of sounding boosted or disconnected.
Before calibration, I noticed small gaps in the bass response along with moments of boominess that made the low end feel disconnected. After calibration, the crossover handoff between the monitors and the sub was much more seamless, with the low end sounding like a natural extension of the speakers rather than a separate source, and no obvious dips, peaks, or phase issues around the crossover point.
One of the most practical features of the ARC system is how the correction profile can be applied. Users can insert it directly on the DAW’ s monitor output or apply it globally at the system level so that all audio playback benefits from the correction. In worship environments where audio sources include rehearsal playback software, training videos, streaming references, and DAW sessions, this global correction option is particularly valuable.
The iLoud Sub will probably work best when paired with small to mid-sized two-way nearfield monitors. In other words, systems that effectively reproduce high and midrange frequencies effectively but may lack the extended low-frequency response typically found in three-way nearfield monitors. The iLoud Sub helps create a cohesive, full-range monitoring system by smoothly extending the low end without gaps or dropouts at the crossover frequency. Its calibration capabilities further ensure accurate and consistent bass response across your listening environment.
