GEAR REVIEW
REUNION BLUES EXPEDITION GIG BAG | Mitch Bohannon
If you ’ re reading this , you have more than just a general interest in gear . Go ahead … raise your hand if you ’ re a self-described , “ gearhead !” Yes , I see those hands … and you in the back ! We ’ re the ones who , when watching a live performance , will hear a guitar tone that catches our ear , and we ’ ll zoom our camera to see if we can make out the headstock . And , then search for the guitar on Sweetwater … all while still at the show .
During intermission or at the end of the show you ’ ll probably sneak to the stage to get a glimpse of the pedalboard or other outboard gear , won ’ t you ? Come on , I know I ’ m not alone !
Well , while I was at the NAMM show in Anaheim , I helped load out some guitars for our own Doug Doppler . I grabbed a soft case and threw it on my shoulder so I could carry some hard cases . As soon as I put down the hard cases , I had to get a look at what was on my back ! I took out my camera and shot a pic of the logo . Reunion Blues .
When something catches your attention , it ’ s hard to let it go , right ? Yeah , I could not stop thinking about this case . See , I ’ ve been on the hunt for the right gig bag for a few of my acoustics . Honestly , I can ’ t stand carrying heavy hard cases just to go to church . I ’ ve always been a gig bag guy . I ’ m not asking for my guitars to get dinged up by a thin , flimsy bags . After carrying Doug ’ s guitar and feeling how sturdy and comfortable it was , I reached out to Reunion Blues and got a dreadnaught model of the new Expedition series .
I received the bag yesterday and honestly could not be more pleased with it . This is a firm , strong bag with plush , thick padding . The velvet inside adds a little luxury for my beloved guitars and the sturdy neck rest with security strap is quite substantial . Two moveable pads allow for a variety of body contours and offer even greater protection .
The Expedition series has serious style with its blue accents on the black , durable ( AEGIS ) Abrasion Resistant Exterior . Reunion Blues calls it the Impact-Resistant Flexoskeleton . Plenty of well-placed pockets and attachment points expand possibilities for personal conveniences . I really love the zippered , hideaway backpack that keeps the backpack straps from eternally dangling or being left at home . And the Zero-G handle … seriously , you ’ ve got to feel it , but
