from the passage in Isaiah 44-45 , and Israel is in the middle of the desert . And they ' re just kind of looking around and wondering , " Where is God ?" I think that ' s where I was at that point in my life . I was looking around and saying , " Where are You ?" It feels like in this season that I ' m in the middle of a desert . I ' m in the middle of a wasteland , and I don ' t know where my next drink of water is going to come from ."
Isaiah said , " Behold , I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the desert ." That ' s ultimately a passage talking about Jesus and Jesus coming , but he says , " I am doing a new thing ." And I think all throughout scripture , we see God do that . Moses is in the middle of the wilderness taking care of sheep when suddenly , this burning bush pops up and his life changes forever . Joseph is sold into slavery and there ' s all these detours that his life takes him , and he ' s over all of them , he ' s the second in command over all of Egypt . And , we see that time and time again , and so it ' s just really a song that ' s just saying , " I need to claim the promise that scripture says , ' That He can begin a good work in me if not .'" It ' s faithful to proclaim it .
And so , it ' s just saying , " I may look around and it doesn ' t feel like my circumstances , that I can ' t see where God is , but I know that He ' s faithful . And so , I ' m believing that He is doing and will do something new in my life ."
[ WM ] In conclusion , please tell us about the vision , hopes , and dreams that you and your Passion teammates have for this project .
[ Melodie ] I think the thing I love about what we do at Passion … Passion ' s been around for 23 , 25 years . I think ' 97 was the first Passion gathering together … and I love that every year there ' s not a fake , that it ' s the real thing .
It ' s all about the glory of God , and so I think every year our desire is that people encounter Jesus during these songs , and they are filled with hope , that as they play these songs in their homes , or driving around , or wherever , that they see Jesus and they learn something new about Him , that the Holy Spirit leads them and that it brings hope to their day .
