[ Steve ] Yes, right. I mean this is just my hunch, but I feel like it’ s probably a little more open. I feel like they kind of learned a lesson in that how can you claim to be open to everything, but here’ s one thing( Christianity) that’ s off limits?
[ WM ] Did you spend time on the campus for the filming?
[ Steve ] Yeah. Not only did we film on campus, but I was there multiple times doing location scouting and things like that. I mean, I got to really like the place and liked a lot of the people. And then we did a screening there on campus. They came out for it.
[ WM ] That’ s great. Moving to the present. I went and watched the first video episode of the Dead Sea Squirrels and I love it!
[ Steve ] Oh, thanks man.
Dead Sea Squirrels
[ WM ] It totally feels like you.
[ Steve ] Well, it’ s really Mike Nawrocki too( cocreator of Veggie Tales)
[ WM ] And the sound effects are excellent.
[ Steve ] So we have a sound effects person, and I do a lot of music for the songs along with Mike. And then John Painter produces a lot of those. Some of them produced by Danny Seim who did the score for Blue Light Jazz. And then Kurt Heinecke has worked with Veggie Tales forever and he does the actual score.
[ WM ] So how has that whole series gone for you then?
[ Steve ] It’ s been a blast; we’ re already working on Season 2.
[ WM ] Speaking of film, tell us about when you did the filming for the video“ Meltdown( At Madame Tussaud’ s).” How did you get it to look like the wax figures(. i. e. the Queen’ s head) were really melting?
[ Steve ] So we did it at the Hollywood Wax Museum. The guy who was the curator also was a budding Hollywood effects guy. And so, he did all this stuff. He was just really into it and came up with all these things because otherwise we wouldn’ t be able to touch anything and he wanted to try out some different things.
[ WM ] That’ s what I was thinking … how they let you do that because you can’ t destroy the wax museum for a single video.
