$ 10,000 and $ 15,000 Bourgeois guitars do before they go out the door . After decades of trying , Dana has finally found a way to make Bourgeois guitars affordable and available to a wider range of players .
After reviewing the Touchstone Vintage , I bought for myself a Touchstone Country Boy , which has mahogany back and sides and an Alaskan Sitka Spruce top . It ’ s more of what I call a working-man ’ s guitar . This Touchstone Signature has Madagascar Rosewood back and sides with a torrefied , or heat-treated , Alaskan Sitka Spruce top .
If you ’ ll watch the full video , I tried to do a head-to-head comparison showing some differences between my Country Boy and the Signature OM guitars . I felt like the heat treating on the spruce top provided a more mellowed sound but still with a lot of punch . The guitar is extremely responsive . If you look up the specs of most guitars you ’ ve played , the nut width is probably either 1 11 / 16 ” or 1 ¾ ”. The nut width on the Bourgeois is in between , coming in at 1 22 / 32 ”. It makes for a perfect balance between flat-picking and fingerpicking .
Just like my Country Boy , the Signature is a player . The OM shape is comfortable whether
standing on a platform or sitting on a stool . This shape has really become the most popular to find on worship platforms in the past several years . In addition to the appointments listed above , the fretboard is ebony , both the nut and saddle are bone , and the headstock is appointed with Schaller Grand Tune Gold tuners with ebony buttons . Striking . The satin-finished neck makes for smooth chord changes .
Bourgeois guitars will come with electronics
upon request , and this guitar is outfitted with an L . R . Baggs Lyric system . I received this guitar on a Tuesday and had a day to pick around before I led worship for our mid-week service ( which you ’ ll hear some in the video ). For a smaller-bodied guitar , this OM has a huge sound . I attribute that to Dana Bourgeois ’ voicing . Plugged in , the guitar really filled our auditorium . The next day , I led worship for our Celebrate Recovery meeting in our student venue , and I was able to dial it in a little better . I used wedges in both venues instead of in-ear monitors , so I had to be careful with gain and levels coming back at the guitar in the monitors . In both rooms , I dialed the gain back more than 50 % from where it was set for other guitars . However , once the gain was set , I was able to get a comfortable volume in the monitors .
Obviously , I think highly of the Bourgeois Touchtone OM as I just became an owner . I will most certainly be sad to see the Signature go . The attention to detail that was taken with the design of this guitar is most appreciated ! The Touchstone Signature OM has an MSRP of $ 3999 and comes with a hardshell case .
