[ WM ] Well done . On a separate note , you have been involved in a unique podcast called WOR / TH and now a conference . And in the description , I like what it says , “ To fight for deeply Biblical , relevant and poetic worship ”. Tell us about that ?
[ Matt ] Yes , the word WOR / TH , we have it standing for worship and theology . And just how important is that ? As well as thinking about musicality in our worship expressions and all the things we create musically , or through songs and services … are we really thinking deeply about theology ? The point being that so many people come into the role of being a worship leader through the fact that they ’ re a musician . Actually , way back with the old church hymn writers , it was quite different .
Often those people were ordained ministers who had had a lot of theological training . And so , when they wrote their hymns , that ’ s showing up in the mix . I think if you come in through the musical route , it doesn ’ t disqualify you from anything , but it just means you ’ ve got to work extra hard at making sure you ’ re paying attention to the content lyrically of what you ’ re singing .
